Sophomore wrestler Conner Harer finished as runner-up at the Black Knight Open in West Point, New York, on Sunday. Competing unattached in the 157-pound division, Harer was among five placewinners representing No. 13 Rutgers wrestling.
Harer secured victories in his first three matches, including a 4-1 sudden victory over Ethan Mojena of Brown University to reach the title bout. He was defeated by Army’s Joey Antonio, ranked No. 32, with a 9-3 decision and took second place.
Other notable performances for Rutgers included Mason Gibson finishing third at 141 pounds after defeating Ryan Hartung of Binghamton by a 4-3 decision in his final match. Dagen Condomitti placed fourth at 157 pounds, Nick Villani earned fourth place at 149 pounds after three wins on the front side of his bracket, and Nate Blanchette finished sixth at 174 pounds.
Rutgers is scheduled to compete next at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia on Sunday, November 23.
