Rising sophomore Katerina Hoffman, a diver from Rutgers University, achieved notable placements at the 2025 World University Games in Berlin. Hoffman secured fourth place in the women’s 1-meter diving event and fifth place in the women’s 3-meter competition.
During Wednesday’s finals for the 1-meter event, Hoffman scored 249.20 points, finishing behind China’s Ouyang Yu and Wang Yi, as well as her Team USA teammate Avery Giese. Her final dive, a reverse 1½ somersault pike, allowed her to move up two positions to secure fourth place.
In Monday’s 3-meter final, Hoffman was the top American competitor with a total score of 259.40 points. She placed fifth behind competitors from China and Germany.
Hoffman’s achievements come after a successful first season with the Scarlet Knights during which she qualified for NCAA Championships in multiple events. The Whitehouse Station native won the NCAA Zone A title for the 1-meter event and participated in both consolation finals at the Big Ten Championships.
Earlier this year, Hoffman teamed up with fellow Rutgers diver Bailee Sturgill to win bronze in synchronized platform diving at the USA Diving Championships. They also took gold at the Canada Diving Cup.
