Rutgers volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision to Oregon at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Wednesday evening. Despite the loss, senior Lexi Visintine reached a career milestone by serving her 100th ace, becoming only the second Scarlet Knight in the rally era to reach that mark.
Oregon started strong with a 25-13 win in the first set. Rutgers responded in the second set, using an 8-1 run to secure a 25-22 victory and even the match. However, Oregon regained control and won the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-21.
Visintine’s performance included two aces, moving her within five of tying Beka Kojadinovic’s rally-era record for career aces at Rutgers. “Senior Lexi Visintine served up a pair of aces to become only the second Scarlet Knight of the rally era with 100 career aces. She needs five more to tie Beka Kojadinovic (2017-21) as the rally era record holder.”
Sophomore Aspen Maxwell led Rutgers with 13 kills and four blocks, while senior Tara Garvey contributed 10 kills. Maxwell also recorded no errors on her attacks in the second set and hit .636 during that frame. Freshman Imani Howell matched Maxwell with four blocks. Sophomore Lily Bolen added 24 assists and eight digs, and junior Jenna DeLaMater collected nine digs.
The match featured several notable moments. In the opening set, Rutgers briefly led before Oregon took control with a nine-point run. The Scarlet Knights dominated much of the second set behind key plays from Maxwell and Howell but could not sustain momentum in later sets as Oregon built early leads each time.
During the fourth set, Visintine delivered back-to-back aces—her milestone coming during a stretch that narrowed Oregon’s lead—but Rutgers was unable to complete the comeback.
Rutgers will conclude its season on Friday against Washington at College Avenue Gym. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m., with free admission and parking available nearby. Seniors Aly Borellis, Tara Garvey, Lexi Visintine, and Lauren Wilcock will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
