Rutgers University’s cross country teams are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, which will take place on Friday, November 14, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The event will be held at the Goodman race course on the Lehigh University campus, a venue familiar to the Scarlet Knights from their participation in the Paul Short Run earlier this season.
Associate Head Coach Nicol Starkes commented on the team’s outlook: “We’re really excited for the regional meet this weekend. The men are coming off their best Big Ten performance in program history and looking to pick off regional teams that we haven’t beaten in years. They will also increase their race distance from 8K to 10K and they are ready for that challenge. The women know where they can improve on their Big Ten performance at the regional meet and have seen the exact course earlier this season. Both teams have the potential to have some All-Region finishers and some NCAA qualifiers.”
The men’s team is led by Micah Lawson, who has consistently been Rutgers’ top performer throughout the season. At the recent Big Ten Championships, all five scoring runners finished ahead of last year’s top Scarlet Knight runner. Lawson achieved a personal milestone at the Princeton Fall Classic by running a sub-24 minute time for the first time.
On the women’s side, Kelseigh O’Neil and Lorena David have been leading performers for Rutgers. O’Neil notably secured a top-50 finish out of more than 300 competitors at the Paul Short Run.
