Rutgers falls to No. 1 Ohio State; regular season finale set against Penn State

Rutgers football was defeated by top-ranked Ohio State 42-9 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on Saturday. The loss brings Rutgers’ record to 5-6 overall and 2-6 in Big Ten play, while Ohio State remains undefeated at 11-0 (8-0 Big Ten). Attendance for the game was reported at 100,023.

Running back Antwan Raymond led the Scarlet Knights with 52 rushing yards and scored his twelfth touchdown of the season. With this performance, Raymond surpassed 1,500 career rushing yards and became the fifteenth player in program history to reach 20 career rushing touchdowns.

Linebacker Dariel Djabome contributed nine tackles, including one for a loss, and recovered a fumble. Defensive back Bo Mascoe also recorded nine tackles and forced a fumble during the game.

Placekicker Jai Patel made a 44-yard field goal in the second quarter, marking his forty-third career field goal.

In the first half, linebacker Abram Wright forced a fumble at the goal line that Djabome recovered in the end zone for a touchback. Rutgers got on the scoreboard with Patel’s field goal but trailed 14-3 at halftime after two Ohio State touchdowns.

Ohio State extended its lead in the second half with three consecutive touchdown drives. Raymond scored Rutgers’ only touchdown of the game from one yard out in the fourth quarter before Ohio State added another late score to seal their victory.

Rutgers will conclude its regular season by hosting Penn State on November 29 at SHI Stadium. The game will serve as Senior Day and Thank You Fans day, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
