Rutgers University’s football team lost to the University of Washington, 38-19, on Friday night at Husky Stadium in Seattle. The Scarlet Knights led 13-10 at halftime but were outscored by Washington in the second half, with the Huskies putting up 28 points.

Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis set personal records with 386 passing yards and 31 completions, throwing two touchdown passes. Running back Antwan Raymond rushed for 89 yards and caught seven passes for another 89 yards, both career highs, including his first receiving touchdown. Wide receiver Ian Strong made seven catches for 124 yards, marking his fourth game this season with over 100 receiving yards.

On defense, Jett Elad led Rutgers with seven tackles. Jordan Thompson recorded two tackles-for-loss and Jordan Walker had a sack. Linebacker Dariel Djabome added six tackles along with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

The game began positively for Rutgers as they scored first when Kaliakmanis connected with KJ Duff on a 20-yard touchdown pass. A field goal from Jai Patel extended their lead to 10-0 before Washington responded in the second quarter. The teams traded field goals late in the half, giving Rutgers a three-point lead at intermission.

Washington opened the third quarter by taking its first lead after a quick scoring drive. Despite Raymond’s long touchdown reception bringing Rutgers within five points, Washington pulled away with additional touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters.

Rutgers finished the game with 493 total offensive yards—their highest output in a Big Ten matchup since recording 596 against Indiana in 2015.

Several players reached notable milestones during the contest:
• Kaliakmanis tied for fifth-most passing yards in a single game in school history and matched Rich Policastro (1968-69) for eighth most career touchdown passes at Rutgers.
• Raymond surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards across just 16 games.
• Strong now has nine consecutive games with at least five receptions.
• Djabome became the first Scarlet Knight since Robert Longerbeam (2023 vs Michigan State) to force two fumbles in one game.
• Patel moved into sixth place all-time at Rutgers for made field goals.
• Offensive lineman Bryan Felter appeared in his fiftieth career game for Rutgers.

No general public tickets remain available for Rutgers’ next home game against Oregon on October 18 at SHI Stadium during Homecoming & Family Weekend. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., airing on Big Ten Network.
