No. 14 Rutgers field hockey secured a 4-0 victory against Indiana on Friday in Bloomington, marking their first road win at Indiana since 2018. The Scarlet Knights improved their overall record to 8-5 and are now 3-1 in Big Ten play, while Indiana dropped to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in conference games.
Olivia Fraticelli led Rutgers with two goals, increasing her season total to eight and recording her third multi-goal game of the year. Puck Winter and Julia Vinas Nieto also scored for the Scarlet Knights, with Vinas Nieto registering her first collegiate goal. Dani Gindville notched her first career assist during the match.
Goalkeeper Emily Nicholls made three saves, securing her fourth shutout start of the season and her second in Big Ten competition. The defensive effort included a key save by Puck Winter, which was her 30th career defensive save—tying her for sixth place in NCAA history and putting her one shy of the all-time Big Ten record.
Rutgers took an early lead just five minutes into the game after converting a penalty corner. They added two more goals in the second quarter, building a 3-0 advantage by halftime. Fraticelli’s second goal came in the fourth quarter following an assist from Gindville.
Indiana managed 12 shots and six penalty corners but could not convert any opportunities as Rutgers’ defense held firm throughout the match.
The win gives Rutgers a 12-4 all-time record against Indiana and marks their tenth consecutive season with at least eight wins. The team has won four of its last five games, outscoring opponents 20-3 during that stretch.
Rutgers will return home next weekend for three straight home games, beginning with a matchup against No. 1 Northwestern on Friday followed by Senior Day against No. 19 Iowa on Sunday.
