Four former Rutgers men’s lacrosse players will compete in the World Lacrosse Super Sixes tournament in Oshawa, Ontario, this weekend. The event, which runs from Friday through Sunday, will use the Olympic Sixes format and include teams from 10 countries.

Connor Kirst is set to play for Team USA. “Kirst has been a veteran of multiple international events for the Red, White and Blue. In his lone season as a Scarlet Knight, Kirst was a Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection, scoring 47 goals for an NCAA Tournament team.”

Ronan Jacoby will represent Team Ireland. “Jacoby spent the 2022 season at Rutgers. He was named an All-American, Second Team All-Big Ten and Scholar All-American after scoring 37 goals with 11 assists to propel RU to the Final Four.”

Jack Stahanczyk joins Team Poland after playing five years at Rutgers from 2019 to 2023. “Stahanczyk spent five years ‘On the Banks’, from 2019 to 2023, where he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Between long-stick midfield and defense, he played in 44 games with 22 starts, causing 18 turnovers and collecting 69 ground balls.”

Mitch Baker will play for Team Australia. “Baker is a veteran player for Team Australia out of the Malvern Lacrosse Club, with multiple experiences with their international team both before and after his time at RU. The attackman from Melbourne played his lone season at RU in 2023.”

The sixes format has become more common as international lacrosse prepares for the sport’s return to the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028, where it will use this format. Recently, Rutgers alumni also participated in the Atlas Cup, another sixes event, where Ross Scott helped lead Team Canada to victory by scoring five goals and four assists, while Colin Kirst played as goalkeeper for Team USA, which finished second.
