Big Ten Football Media Days are set to take place this week at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Rutgers football will participate on Tuesday, marking the first day of the three-day event. Head coach Greg Schiano will be joined by linebacker Dariel Djabome, quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, and wide receiver Ian Strong as representatives for the Scarlet Knights. Their appearances include live segments on Big Ten Network and interviews with both national and local media.
Schiano is scheduled to speak at the main podium at 2:45 p.m. ET and later join a studio set at 5:15 p.m. ET. The student-athletes will also appear on the Big Ten Network set at 5 p.m. ET. Followers can get behind-the-scenes updates by following @RFootball on X and Instagram.
Rutgers is preparing for its season opener against Ohio on Thursday, August 28, at SHI Stadium. The team enters the new season after two consecutive winning seasons, having achieved a program-high points per game in their Big Ten history. This year’s campaign begins with four straight home games, a first since 2007.

Greg Schiano holds the record for most wins in Rutgers football history and is currently in his 17th season as head coach “On the Banks.” His second tenure has been marked by rebuilding efforts that have resulted in victories, bowl appearances, academic achievements, and NFL player pipelines—all accompanied by increased fan support.
Under Schiano’s leadership, Rutgers has made nine bowl appearances with six championships over his career. In recent years alone, twelve Scarlet Knights earned All-Big Ten recognition while players like Robert Longerbeam (Ravens), Kyonte Hamilton (Texans), and Kyle Monangai (Bears) were drafted into the NFL.
Dariel Djabome was an All-Big Ten Third Team selection last year as a starter who ranked fifth within conference ranks with an average of 8.1 tackles per game during 2024—a total reaching triple figures not seen since Olakunle Fatukasi achieved it back in 2020.
