Rutgers University will host No. 8 Oregon at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, on Saturday, October 18, as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend. The football game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
The event marks the second consecutive sellout at SHI Stadium and the 11th since 2022. While general public tickets are sold out, fans can still purchase tickets through SeatGeek, the official ticket marketplace for Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Pre-game activities begin with The Rutgers Boardwalk, which will operate for two days starting Friday evening. The boardwalk offers safe trick-or-treating for children under 12, a costume contest, and other activities leading up to game day.
Fans are encouraged to wear scarlet and arrive early for “Light Up The Knight,” a stadium-wide synchronized light show that starts after the arrival of the Scarlet Knight mascot and his horse Excalibur. This experience uses the Scarlet Knights App for participation.
Entry procedures at SHI Stadium have been updated based on feedback from season ticket holders and guests. All fans can now enter through any gate with approved bags and walk through weapons detection systems without emptying their pockets. Medically necessary items are permitted after inspection.
To enhance safety and speed up entry times, Rutgers continues to use digital tickets that can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet apps. Digital parking passes are also available. Staff will assist with any digital ticket issues on site.
SHI Stadium is now fully cashless across all merchandise stands, concession areas, ticket offices, and parking lots; only credit or debit cards are accepted. A cash-to-card kiosk is available at section 113 for those needing to convert cash into a debit card.
Free campus buses will transport fans from Jersey Mike’s Arena lots to SHI Stadium before kickoff and back afterward. ADA shuttles remain available from designated lots until two-and-a-half hours after the game ends.
Rutgers’ annual Homecoming tradition continues this weekend with its 91st game since first being held in 1933 (except during World War II in 1943 and in 2020). Under head coach Greg Schiano, Rutgers holds an 11-4 record in Homecoming games. Last year’s Homecoming attendance reached a record high of over 53,000 spectators.
Oregon becomes the 43rd different team faced by Rutgers during Homecoming events; this meeting is also their first ever against Oregon or any team from that state. Another highlight of the weekend includes induction ceremonies for new members into the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame.
Statistically this season, Rutgers ranks second nationally in blocked punts (three), second in first downs gained (162), sixth in fewest turnovers lost (three), tenth in time of possession per game (33:11), twelfth in passing offense (309 yards per game), and fifteenth in fewest penalty yards per game (36). Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis currently ranks seventh all-time at Rutgers with more than 4,400 passing yards while running back Antwan Raymond has scored touchdowns in each of his first six games this season.
The defense is led by co-defensive coordinators Robb Smith and Zach Sparber; linebacker Dariel Djabome leads with over 150 career tackles while defensive backs Jett Elad and Bo Mascoe have contributed significant stops and pass defenses so far this year.
Special teams continue to be strong under Coach Schiano’s tenure; Rutgers has blocked more kicks than any other program nationally since 2022—13 blocked punts alone—and placekicker Jai Patel remains consistent with field goals made from various distances throughout his career.
After facing Oregon this week, Rutgers will travel to play Purdue on October 25.
