Rutgers University will host Penn State at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, on November 29, 2025. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Both teams enter the matchup with identical records of 5-6 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
The event marks Senior Day for Rutgers football and the final home game of the season. The Scarlet Knights have a home record of 4-2 this year. As part of pregame festivities, the university will honor its senior players during the Scarlet Walk.
Fans can buy single-game tickets online at ScarletKnights.com or by calling for group sales. The Rutgers Boardwalk opens at 11 a.m., featuring a Winter Wonderland theme with activities such as meeting Santa Claus, holiday crafts, and a hot chocolate station.
The R Fund, which is Rutgers University Athletics’ development team, will hold a food drive during Saturday’s game in partnership with REPLENISH and the Rutgers Food Pantry. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and hygiene products for donation; clothing will not be accepted. According to organizers, “The R Fund’s initiative aims to provide essential resources for families facing food insecurity, and together, we can make a difference this holiday season.”
Several changes have been made to improve entry procedures at SHI Stadium based on fan feedback from postgame surveys. Fans may now enter through any gate with an approved bag and do not need to empty their pockets when passing through weapons detection systems. Exceptions remain for medically necessary items after inspection.
Digital tickets are required for entry and parking; these can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet apps before arrival. Representatives from Rutgers ticket staff will assist fans with digital ticket issues onsite.
All stadium transactions are cashless; only credit or debit cards are accepted at merchandise stands, concession areas, ticket offices, and parking lots. A cash-to-card kiosk is available inside the stadium for those who need it.
Parking options include free campus buses from Jersey Mike’s Arena lots to SHI Stadium beginning three hours before kickoff. ADA shuttles serve several lots until two-and-a-half hours after the game ends.
On television coverage, Jeff Levering (play-by-play), Jake Butt (analyst), and Brooke Fletcher (reporter) will call the game on Big Ten Network. Radio coverage includes Chris Carlin (play-by-play), Eric LeGrand (analyst), Mike Teel (analyst), Anthony Fucilli (sideline), Paul Shrager (engineer), Marc Malusis & Julian Pinnix-Odrick (pre/post). Student radio commentary is provided by WRSU 88.7-FM’s Phil Jaccoma & Nick Hart.
Statistically this season, Rutgers ranks among national leaders in several categories including blocked punts (fourth nationally), fewest penalty yards per game (fifth), time of possession (15th), fourth down conversion percentage (21st), net punt average (24th), and first downs gained (26th). Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis leads in passing within the conference while running back Antwan Raymond recently surpassed 1,000 rushing yards on the year.
Head coach Greg Schiano has overseen multiple milestones during his tenure; since 2020 Rutgers has gone 20-3 when not committing a turnover in games played. Special teams have contributed significantly under Schiano with three blocked punts this season alone.
Defensively, Robb Smith serves as co-defensive coordinator alongside Zach Sparber. Notable performers include linebacker Dariel Djabome—who recorded ten tackles last week against Ohio State—and defensive back Jett Elad who leads in tackles this season.
The history between Rutgers and Penn State dates back over a century; they have met more times than any other Big Ten opponent for Rutgers. Their last win against Penn State was in 1988.
