Rutgers University’s rowing team is sending four athletes to the 2025 Under 23 World Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland. The event will take place from July 23 to July 27 and will feature nearly 1,000 top rowers globally.

Victoria Grieder and Chiara Saccomando will represent Canada and Germany, respectively, marking their multiple appearances at the championships. Meanwhile, Lily Wood from Great Britain and Femke de Witt from The Netherlands are set to make their debuts.

This year marks the program’s 50th anniversary, a milestone that coincides with a successful season for Rutgers rowing. The team participated in its sixth consecutive NCAA Championships, finishing eighth nationally. At the Big Ten Championships, they secured second place with six silver medals.

Head coach Justin Price received recognition as CRCA Region 4 Coach of the Year and was named the 2025 Big Ten Coach of the Year alongside his staff being honored as CRCA Regional Staff of the Year.

The team also achieved a historic victory by winning the Island Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England. This marked Rutgers’ first triumph at this prestigious event held on the River Thames.

Under Price’s leadership, several Scarlet Knights have joined national teams over time. Alongside Wood and de Witt, past competitors include Grieder, Saccomando, Hannah Heideveld, Femke Paulis, Karin Brandner, Sarah Johanek, and Ella Toa.
