Rutgers University’s swimming and diving team is set to compete at the Minnesota Invitational this week. The event, hosted by the University of Minnesota, will take place over three days, from Thursday through Saturday. Seven teams are participating: Rutgers, Minnesota, California, UNLV, Harvard, Denver, and Iowa State.
This marks the second consecutive year that Rutgers is taking part in the Minnesota Invitational. Live results and streaming for both preliminaries and finals will be available online via YouTube.
For Rutgers, this meet represents their fifth weekend of competition this season. Earlier in the season, the Scarlet Knights secured dual meet victories against St. Bonaventure and Fordham. They have also faced strong opponents such as Miami/Arkansas and nationally ranked No. 25 Princeton.
At their previous outing at the Naval Academy Invite, Rutgers divers achieved first-place finishes in all three events. Sephora Ford won both the 3-Meter and Platform events while Katerina Hoffman took first in the 1-Meter event. The diving squad currently holds a national ranking of sixth.
Team captain Brooke Thompson recently returned from competing at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan. Thompson earned six medals—two golds and four bronzes—set a new U.S. deaf record, and contributed to two relay teams that established world records for deaf swimming.
The schedule for the Minnesota Invitational includes swimming preliminaries starting at 10:00am each day, diving preliminaries at noon, and finals beginning at 5:00pm.
Rutgers swimmers have set nine new marks on their program’s all-time top-10 lists so far this season—seven in swimming events and two in diving events. Ana Hazlehurst (400 IM) and Anna Vlachou (100 Butterfly) each posted two top performances among these new records.
According to head coach Jon Maccoll: “We’re looking forward to seeing how our athletes perform against strong competition here.”
