SOMERSET, N.J. — SHI International has announced that Brooke Thompson, a swimmer from Rutgers University, will be their newest brand ambassador. Thompson is preparing to compete in the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo this November.

Thompson, who holds the USA Deaf Swimming Record in the 50-meter freestyle set at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, also won the ECAC 200 Medley Relay Championship. Born deaf, she advocates for adaptive technology and workplace inclusion for individuals with disabilities. She received cochlear implants as a child.

“Brooke embodies the qualities we value most at SHI: dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to helping others succeed,” said Ed McNamara, Senior Director of Communications at SHI. “Her athletic achievements are remarkable.”

Joining LPGA Tour golfers Jennifer Kupcho, Gurleen Kaur, Allisen Corpuz, and goalkeeper Casey Murphy on SHI’s team of ambassadors, Thompson shared her passion for swimming which began when her parents enrolled her in lessons for safety reasons due to concerns about communication challenges related to her cochlear implants.

She has since won multiple medals in World Deaf Swimming Championships and at the 2022 Deaflympics in Brazil.

“Swimming has given me opportunities I never imagined,” Thompson said. “Partnering with SHI feels natural because they understand that success comes from hard work.”

Thompson first told her story at an SHI End User Computing Summit in 2024 where she raised awareness about inclusive culture and adaptive technologies needed by employees with disabilities.

Competing as part of the USA Deaf Sports Federation delegation to the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo this November, Thompson will race against other deaf athletes under equal competition conditions without hearing assistance.

SHI International Corp., serving over 15,000 organizations globally with more than $15 billion in revenue and over 6,000 employees worldwide remains one of the largest Minority and Woman Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE) in the U.S.
