Rutgers swimming and diving competes through second day at Minnesota Invitational

Rutgers swimming and diving continued its participation in the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis, completing two days of competition as of Friday. The Scarlet Knights took part in several events, including the 200 Yard Medley Relay, 100 Yard Butterfly, 400 Yard Individual Medley (IM), 200 Yard Freestyle, 100 Yard Breaststroke, 100 Yard Backstroke, and the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay.

In diving, Rutgers competed on the 3-Meter Board. Sephora Ford secured fourth place with a score of 300.05, while Madilyn Varnum finished sixth at 282.55.

The team of Angelica Bath, Sofia Bartoloni, Anna Vlachou and Emilianna Gonzalez earned fourth place in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.53.

Anna Vlachou completed the finals of the 100 Yard Butterfly in ninth place with a time of 53.29 seconds. This performance was just short of her season-best mark of 53.25 seconds set earlier this year, which ranks as the fourth fastest time in school history.

In other individual events:
– Ana Hazlehurst placed tenth in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:19.42.
– Chiara Alberti recorded Rutgers’ fastest time in the 200 Yard Freestyle at 1:52.45.
– Sofia Bartoloni led RU swimmers in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.85.
– Angelica Bath posted RU’s top finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke at 54.96 seconds.
– The top Scarlet Knight squad for the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay—composed of Ana Hazlehurst, Chiara Alberti, Megan Fox and Casey Zentz—finished with a time of 7:31.09.

The final day of competition is scheduled for Saturday and will feature events including the men’s and women’s 1650 Freestyle, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Free Relay and platform diving.
