Rutgers women’s volleyball team ended its final road match of the 2025 season with a straight-set loss to No. 17 Indiana in Bloomington on Thursday night. The Scarlet Knights were defeated by scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-15.

Sophomore Aspen Maxwell led Rutgers with seven kills, while senior Aly Borellis contributed 10 assists. The team registered seven service aces during the match, including three from junior Jenna DeLaMater and two each from seniors Lexi Visintine and Lauren Wilcock. Visintine is now just two aces away from reaching her 100th career ace, which would make her only the second Scarlet Knight in the rally era to achieve this milestone. Visintine also recorded two solo blocks.

In the opening set, Indiana started strong with a 7-2 lead, but Rutgers responded with a 7-1 run to take a brief lead at 9-8. After regaining momentum, Indiana finished the set on a decisive run to secure the frame.

The second set saw Indiana open with seven consecutive points and maintain control throughout. DeLaMater’s three straight aces helped narrow the gap temporarily for Rutgers before Indiana pulled away again.

The third set followed a similar pattern as Indiana took an early lead that Rutgers could not overcome despite efforts that included an ace from Wilcock and a kill by Mira McCool.

Rutgers will conclude its season at home with three remaining matches, starting against Minnesota on Sunday, November 23 at 4:30 p.m.

“Visintine is two aces away from her 100th career ace and becoming the second Scarlet Knight of the rally era to accomplish the feat,” according to Rutgers Athletics.
