Rutgers University is set to launch its women’s basketball season with a free event called HoopFest at Jersey Mike’s Arena on Sunday, October 26, from noon to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and aims to bring together fans of all ages.

The 2025-26 season, including HoopFest, is presented by Prudential. The schedule includes an open practice session, a pep rally, and team introductions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with players, coaches, and Rutgers Spirit teams.

“HoopFest is all about celebrating our fans, community and the energy of Rutgers women’s basketball,” said Head Coach Coquese Washington. “We can’t wait to see Jersey Mike’s Arena filled with families, students and our supporters as we get ready for an exciting season ahead.”

Fans attending between noon and 1:45 p.m. can watch the Scarlet Knights during their open practice on the court. This segment will feature a live question-and-answer session with Coach Washington. There will be stations in the concourse where attendees can ask questions about ticketing or group experiences and pick up raffle tickets for prizes such as a signed basketball, courtside tickets, or a flatscreen TV.

The first 250 fans will receive an exclusive HoopFest T-shirt. Complimentary popcorn and water will be available for everyone in attendance. Merchandise stands will offer new Rutgers gear, including player name-and-number shirts.

Additional activities on the concourse include face painting and caricature artists. Concessions will remain open throughout the event.

At 1:45 p.m., the pep rally begins with performances by the Rutgers Marching Scarlet Knights, Cheer, Dance teams, and mascot Sir Henry. Fans can participate in traditional chants and learn more about game-day traditions.

Team introductions are scheduled for 2 p.m., featuring music and lights as players make their entrance for the first time this season. Coach Washington will address supporters before officially starting family fun activities.

From 2–3 p.m., families can take part in interactive events such as shooting free throws with players, visiting photo booths and inflatables, face painting sessions, crafts at Sir Henry’s Castle & Craft Station, trick-or-treating at themed stations around the arena, and additional prize giveaways.

Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes in celebration of Halloween. Updates about HoopFest will be shared on social media through @RutgersWBB.

Admission is free for all guests at Jersey Mike’s Arena on October 26 from noon until 3 p.m.
