Rutgers women’s soccer lost to No. 25 Ohio State with a final score of 4-2 on Thursday night at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey.

The Scarlet Knights, now holding a record of 3-7-4 overall and 1-7-1 in conference play, fell behind early as the Buckeyes scored twice within the first three minutes of the match. Ohio State added another goal in the 19th minute, leading to a 3-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Ohio State’s goalkeeper received a red card for fouling Nata Ramirez during a breakaway in the 59th minute. Rutgers capitalized on having an extra player when Kennedi Cotter scored with a header from an Ashley Baran assist three minutes later, narrowing the deficit to 3-1.

Ohio State responded by scoring their fourth goal in the 65th minute. With just over three minutes left in regulation, Reilly McGlinn scored her first goal of the season after collecting a rebound from a Morgan Hippeli shot. Despite this late effort, Rutgers was unable to close the gap further and finished with a two-goal loss.

Rutgers will conclude its home schedule against Michigan on Sunday at Yurcak Field. The team will honor five graduating seniors before the match as part of its annual Senior Day ceremony.
