Rutgers women’s soccer played to a scoreless draw against UConn on Sunday afternoon at Yurcak Field. The Scarlet Knights, now with a record of 2-0-3, generated several opportunities late in the match but were unable to convert, resulting in their third consecutive tie. UConn stands at 1-2-1 after the contest.

Goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer made three saves during the game, earning her 19th career shutout and her third shutout in four matches this season. In the first half, both teams found chances limited; Rutgers managed one shot on goal while UConn had two attempts stopped by Bodmer.

The second half saw more action as both teams increased their attacking efforts. Rutgers forced the Huskies’ goalkeeper into making three additional saves. A key moment occurred in the 70th minute when Adela Vasakova broke free but was brought down by UConn’s goalkeeper outside the box. The referee initially issued a red card before changing it to a yellow card after review; the following free kick did not result in a goal.

Ashley Baran produced two late scoring opportunities for Rutgers. In the 81st minute, she curled a shot just wide of the post and then had another breakaway chance in the 87th minute that was stopped by UConn’s keeper coming off her line.

After these missed chances, Rutgers finished with its third straight draw early in the season.

“Olivia Bodmer recorded her 19th career shutout and third of the season,” according to team notes. The Scarlet Knights have started multiple true freshmen in every match so far this year, including Lindsey Hailey, Julia Joseph, and Kennedi Cotter against UConn. Hailey has played all 90 minutes in each of Rutgers’ five matches this season.

Rutgers will play next on Saturday night at Providence with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and coverage available on ESPN+.
