Rutgers women’s tennis completes third day at ITA Regionals

The Rutgers women’s tennis team completed the third day of competition at the ITA Regionals on Saturday, held at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

In doubles play, Mai Nguyen and Naomi Karki advanced past the Round of 32 by defeating Seton Hall’s Jaden Davidson and Kira Farrakhova with a score of 8-3. The pair was eliminated in the following round by Penn State’s Maria Ciubotaru and Brianna Baldi, who won 8-4.

In singles matches, both Mai Nguyen and Zeynep Ilker were unable to reach the Round of 16. Jo-Leen Saw from the University of Pennsylvania defeated Nguyen 6-3, 6-4. Columbia’s Sophia Wang overcame Ilker in three sets, finishing 6-0, 1-6, 6-2.

Karina Jumazhanova competed in a consolation singles match but lost to Anastasia Lim from Fairleigh Dickinson with scores of 6-3, 4-6, [13-11].

The tournament will continue Sunday morning at the Hecht Tennis Center.
