Everyone has bad days. It may feel like nothing is going your way, but it’s important not to let a few bad experiences control your thoughts. Keep these strategies in mind for when you need to “reset” a rainy day.
Accept the feelings. It’s okay to not be okay all the time. Instead of faking a smile, try to let your mind and body acknowledge what you’re actually feeling. Recall the good parts. Not every day is good, but there is often good in every day. Reflect on your day and try to write down any small joys or positive moments you can remember. Speak kindly to yourself. We often make bad days worse by blaming ourselves. Instead, be gentle and treat yourself as you would a friend who is struggling. Do something you enjoy. Call a loved one, dive back into a favorite hobby, or revisit your favorite show.
