Mayor Jim Cahill | New Brunswick City Government

Mayor Jim Cahill will take the oath for his ninth term of office, while four members will be sworn in to the City Council, during an inauguration ceremony on Monday, Jan. 2 at 3 p.m. at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, 11 Livingston Ave.

Councilwoman Rebecca Escobar and Councilman Kevin Egan will each take the oath for another four year-term on City Council. Newcomers Petra Gaskins and Manuel Castaneda will also be taking the oath of office for Council as the city’s governing body expands from five seats to seven seats. 

Mayor Cahill will also deliver the State-of-the-City Address, celebrating the community,  highlighting $24 million in tax revenue annually through redevelopment, recognizing areas of improvement in neighborhood services and public safety and setting an aggressive policy agenda for the year ahead.
