Lets take action to help the forest by planting native shrubs and flowers!
You'll learn about the Madison Forest Regeneration project which is restoring this forest area above an important water source (an aquifer). We will help this ecosystem improve by planting native shrubs and wildflowers that support the native bugs, birds, animals, and more, adding important understory plants to an area weve been planting trees in for the past two years. This year, well be planting cardinal flowers, arrowwood virburnum and northern bayberry. Your Tree Promise patch, for protecting the forests, is included in the program fee. Hours can also count towards your Heart of Service Patch.
Dress for the weather since this program will take place rain or shine though severe weather may shift the program time or cancel. Wear closed-toe shoes or boots that can handle potential spring mud, bring a small trowel and/or work gloves if you have them (we'll have loaner tools and glove as well). Adults attending should register since they will be participating, be covered by our program insurance, and so we can plan for the total group size.
